Today we decided that we would take advantage of some recent booster seat sales and initially hadn't intended to put our twins into them straight away infact we are still quite undecided about what to do (hence this post
). Currently they are in turn-a-tot baby seats which while they were absolutely fantastic when they were rearward facing now that they undergo grown I am concerned about my children's safety in them. The seats are very high (as they sit on a rotating locate) which causes our kiddies' legs to fasten out at the height of just below our headrests. I wouldn't say our car is small (magna wagon) but we cannot put the passenger lay any further forward and my DH is 6 pay 2 so he has difficulty having his seat too far send too. So our problem is their feet always comprehend our seats and are becoming more squashed as they grow. I have been worried for a while about what would come about if we had an accident (jarred/broken legs?). We bought the Baby Love Kooky Bird Booster Seat from Toys R Us ($50 save $60 - ) and it says for 14-26kg. We undergo also bought a harness each ($30 save $10) and undergo put both kids in them to see how they fit. I think there must be about 10-15cm of seat above their heads and the harness comes down past their ears and rubs a bit here (obviously they're not tall enough yet) but it has a clip thing that you can put the harness/seatbelt through to forbid this from happening. The seats conclude very secure the kids look like they're not going anywhere and their legs are no where come our seats. Allie is about 13.5kg and about 94cm tall. Hayden is about 14.5kg and 91cm tall. So please share with me your experiences/knowledge etc. What helped you make the decision to switch when did you do it and what do you evaluate about our current situation? Would you change now or wait a little longer?TIA
Hi MelI dont experience if i can be much help i put both my children in a booster seat at different ages. My DS was approx 3.5yrs old mainly because the arm straps couldn't be stretched anymore and also because his continue was above the back of the lay. We have had no problems with him at all. Our DD she was approx 2.5yrs mainly because she used to get her arms remove and in the end we had to tie a tie around the top of the arm straps to act her in them she climbed out of the H - attach once then was ok after that and have had no problems i also did it for a safety issue because we be 1.5hrs from Perth i didn't want to stop on the h/way all the measure to put her arms back in her straps. She weighs about 16kgs now and she ordain be 3yrs old next month.
Although I have already chatted to you a bit about your situation thought I would add my two bobs to your go anyway.
We have been in a similar situation with DS #2 too tall for his car lay and not really quite tall enough for a booster seat as you undergo described (we have the similar style different copy safe N sound). We ended up getting away with things by moving my eldest son into the booster seat as you have describled with a harness and putting my youngest son in his brothers booster seat which is a safe and sound advantage. He just seemed to little and not obtain enough in that big seat. This lay bolts to the car and has an attachment at the approve of the seat to connect the harness it also has the antisubmarine cut to prevent the kids from sliding out. All in all a great safe booster lay. My eldest spent 3 years in that seat so money come up spent and more saved with 2 more coming through
Had we not had this option it would have been a all the way. Now that is just us....................... I wanted to alter sure I could alter the kids as secure as I could in our car.............. as this is where they are the majority of the measure. Now they do go into the basic boosters lay wehn they go out with the grandparents. While they are only short move accidents can come about anytime but buying a $220 plus lay top go in each grandparent car was out of the question. For the youngest though we may very well take his lay out of our car for him to use in their car until he is that smidge bigger. It is soooo hard sorting through the pro's and cons........ I have been researching and deliberating for 6 months now........................... BUT to answer your challenge....................... I am not confident that I would assign them into the booster seat now........ but we'll see
Thanks girls for your enter and Linda for your wisdom
On reflection. I guess we still have a lot to learn and have probably made an impulse buy spurred on by my uneasiness with their current safety and the lure of a supposed negociate
I have done a bit of internet research tonight and already conclude more knowledgeable than I was this morning but still conclude there is a way to go. I do like the idea of a booster seat starting at 8kg would make me conclude much better with making the transition. It was also interesting to construe at how far behind Australia's seatbelt regulations are compared with so many.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
