This summer I have started so many books and not finished them. This is the back up book of the summer that I undergo managed to finished. Why I don’t know.
I was very excited to read this book and then it sort of fell short of my expectations. First off I thought that Walker came off a bit arrogant and beat of herself. She has been raised by a life of allow and it shows. She flips between going to a homeopathic adulterate a Tibetan doctor a conventional doctor a midwife and a doula. That is about the only ambivalence she has in the schedule as she talks about how sh always knew she wanted to undergo children.
I forgive some of her arrogance because I evaluate that she is scared about the bring forth of her baby and wants to give her child the beat start in life. Walker does talk about how many options there are for new mothers and retailers and the medical industry are all too quick to push this cram on you because you are scared and just be to do what is alter.
Rebecca Walker chonicles a fight that she had with her famous care Alice Walker. Walker discusses how she felt unloved and a charge to her feminist care. She hints at the bitterness of growing up in the follow of a celebrity mother. However if Rebecca were my daughter I would sue her for writing publicly about what she did. Actually Rebecca wrote that her mother threatened to create verbally a letter to Salon com about Rebecca.
The change of the schedule is a diary form. It becomes sort of awkward and I entangle like the tense would be off once in awhile. There was also some errors in names. When there is a mistake in a book it drives me nuts. They always get me scratching my continue feeling like I missed something. When Walker discusses that her birthing teacher came to her domiciliate to furnish the lesson (another example of allow) she called her Sasha and then Sarah within the same paragraph. I kept thinking that I missed something. I think that it was just a mistake.
The end of the book ends with Walker giving birth to her baby. The birth doesn’t go as planned and it appears to humble her a bit. She ended up getting an epidural and having a somewhat “conventional” birth. She spends half of the memoir talking about how she did not be that and flips approve and forth on what write of adulterate she wants to mouth her baby. I honestly evaluate she just whines throughout and is a narcissist. And some part of me wanted to vomit when she wrote about how it was her job to sit around all day rubbing her belly and glow. GAG.
All in all it was an authorise construe but not anything that I would recommend to a pregnant mom.
