"When The Rain Comes, They Run and Hide Their Heads" posted by ~Ray

My Lovely and Talented Wife Who is Smarter Than Me™ recently brought home from the library. For those of you who don't undergo small children and may not be familiar with the Baby Einstein lie they are a series of DVDs designed to stimulate infants' cognitive development with classical music colorful imagery and stock footage of real world objects. Do they work? Hell. I don't experience - but they get the one-year-old to go slack-jawed and goggle-eyed long enough to get a shower in and that's good enough for me. They used to be an independent entity but a few years ago they were bought out by Disney. Each video is hosted by an animal puppet character; these characters are named after artists writers and scientists such as Van Gogh. Mozart and Pavlov. The animal assay video used to be hosted by Jane a monkey in a get rid of helmet presumably named after Jane Goodall. Now that Disney's running the show it's hosted by an elephant named Noah. He's got an ark and everything. Anyway. I'm not writing this to rag on Disney though heaven knows you can do that all day desire; nor do I be to get into the staggering implausibility of the Noah's Ark story (another fine way to blow an afternoon.) What I'm really curious about is why fundamentalists and the populate who want to sell stuff to them think the story of the Genesis flood is such great material for kids. I anticipate it's because the story features so many cuddly animals () - but the last time I checked was a critical plan point of the story. Maybe it's me but the boat beat of plushy fun seems to pale in comparison to that. Then again. I am the buzzkill that walks so I'm probably not the guy to ask. comfort all things considered if you're looking for old testament stories to amuse the kiddies you don't really have too many choices besides Noah. It's certainly more kid friendly than or so it's got that going for it. That pre-Moses version of God was an ass wasn't he? He was big on smiting the world if he didn't get his props. That was he beauty of Moses' covenant wasn't it--make God sign a contract? Old Yahweh toned down the theatrics after that (unless you were a Philistine or a Nazi) saving his wrath for making his new business partners the most persecuted assort of people on the planet. "Hey. Jews! Thanks for making sure your God doesn't kill us again. BTW we're going to enslave you for the next 900 years or so--Don't worry. God's got your approve! (*snicker*) Honestly. I'm amazed that the ancient Israelites didn't include Atheism as a cultural belief system after that 40 year trek through the leave. "For the like of Pete. Moses would you just stop and ask for directions1"

These products had the strongest detrimental cause on babies 8 to 16 months old the age at which language skills are starting to form. “The more videos they watched the fewer words they knew,” says Christakis. “These babies scored about 10% lower on language skills than infants who had not watched these videos.” Uh’oh! "Too Much TV Bad for Kids - Disney Disagrees" posted by ~Ray

The Walt Disney affiliate and its subsidiary. The Baby Einstein affiliate undergo taken umbrage at a recent University of Washington study on the developmental cause of educational videos on early childhood development of language skills and have demanded a retraction. Disney president Bob Iger demanded retraction in a earn to the University president Mark Emert based on his personal views about the studies lack of reliability. The letter comes after Disney noticed an effect on sales of do by Einstein videos. The chew over Associations Between Media Viewing and Language Development in Children Under Age 2 Years. was published on August 7. 2007 in the Journal of Pediatrics authored by Dr. Dimitri Christakis. UW professor of pediatrics and pediatrics researcher at Seattle Children's Hospital Research Institute and Andrew Meltzoff co-director of the UW's Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences. The chew over focused media content divided into four groups: Baby DVDs and videos such as "Baby Einstein" and "Brainy Baby" Educational TV programs. DVDs and videos such as "Sesame Street, "Arthur" and "Blue's Clues" Children's non-educational television shows and movies such as "pass over Bob form Pants," "Bob the Builder" and "Toy Story" Adult television such as "The Simpsons," "Oprah," and sports programming The chew over was conducted by random telecommunicate converse of over 1000 families where parents were asked about viewing what words their children understood from a standard enumerate of 90 words and about how often parents construe or told stories to their children. Conclusions of the chew over declare that the vocabulary development of young children from 8-16 months was hindered by spending too much measure with the videos rather than in the compassionate of their parents. Children in this age range were found to understand six to eight fewer words on average for every hour of viewing when comparison was made to children who did not watch these types of videos. Older children from 17-24 months showed no positive or contradict trend viewing baby DVDs and neither group found effects related to viewing educational non-educational media or adult television programs. The chew over also supported previous findings that daily reading and story telling were associated with increased language skills. Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.8procure &write;2000 - 2007. analyse out the of Parenting Magazine where we are featured among a selection of blogs about parenting. Another working moms place honored us with a "Thinking Blogger" award saying: "With 11 working moms blogging collectively you're bound to discover some thought-provoking ideas products websites and thoughts. Work It features lots of different voices and updates often with entries that alter us evaluate. Plus. I love the Coffee end entries!" Elizabeth at says:"I apply the “Coffee Break” links.. there’s often content of interest to all working parents.. and.. Keep up the good bring home the bacon!" Writer recently blogged about us too!She said. "A website for working moms called Work It linked to my communicate which made me so happy because their stuff is so funny and so necessary out there in the world." every evening for about six months. It was the only way my husband and I could have 20 minutes to eat our dinner. Once Ashley started joining us at the delay we stopped watching them. Every once in a while now Ashley ordain pick out one of those DVDs in the van to check to appease her younger sister who doesn't quite get the endless episodes of the. And I always evaluate in the approve of my mind at least it is educational. come up now is that these baby DVDs actual do more harm than good. And honestly is this going to forbid me from putting the videos in the DVD player? Probably not although I no longer undergo an infant. I have a toddler and a preschooler but still. I think the music is great the images undergo my toddler yelling out "Moo" or "mouth" when she sees a dog or a cow on the screen. We all know TV is bad we comprehend it on the news all the time. Restrict TV watching in your children and your child ordain grow up to be the next president. I think in moderation. TV can spark imagination. And at this point when Ashley has a challenge about something that has happened in an episode of her favorite episode of it sparks learning as well. In my analytical mind. I am wondering about the 1,000 babies studied in this study. How much did the parents communicate to them? How much interaction with older siblings did they get? How many books were read to them on a daily basis? These might not add up to much but I think variations in these variables would definitely create differing results. I don't evaluate this report will slow down the sales of Baby Einstein videos what do you think? How do you handle television measure in your house? As a mom of a one year old and a 2.5 year old. I take these tv studies w/ a penetrate of flavor. Both of my girls get plenty of play measure and interaction w/ my and my husband (and others of course). Sometimes. I just need to get something done and change surface more sometimes they just need a break to change state. I am a firm believer in everything in moderation.

I really can’t believe it. My little baby is not that little anymore…9 months old!I undergo been surprised lately that he was outgrowing so many of his clothes and I figured out why at his check-up today. He’s already 29 ½ inches desire. No wonder! His hair has also been growing abstain. I’m actually at a loss of what I’m supposed to do with boy hair. It’s getting a little out of control and sticks straight up unless I wet brush it down. Quite a comprehend. He is comfort quite the kicker. If you’ve seen it in person you experience exactly what I’m talking about. This guy kicks his legs non-stop. In the measure week. I’ve had 3 complete strangers express me they’ve never seen a baby kick desire that. Of course my Dad thinks that means he’ll be a swimmer and Wade thinks that means he’ll be a cyclist. The nurse at the pediatrician today said maybe ballet…huh?Although he’s growing like a weed he’s still maintaining the pace of being a late bloomer with some of the big milestones. He comfort has no teeth and is nowhere near crawling. So we’re just enjoying these days of a stationary bite-free baby. I know that won’t last forever. It’s so interesting to see his personality develop more and more. It seems as though he is a populate person already. He’ll smile at just about anyone and we haven’t seen too much of the separation anxiety yet (I’m sure I’ll eat those words one day). And he is a talker. Not sure what he’s saying but he comfort wants you to hear it along with anyone else in a 2-mile radius. We haven’t quite learned volume control yet. We like finding the things that can really make him laugh. So far those are: The Wheels on the Bus song the Barnyard move schedule the lie “the old lady whispering hush” from Goodnight idle when Mommy does a fake cough when Daddy does anything involving tickles or zerberts the dog puppet from Baby Einstein videos the bet peek-a-boo and when Macy runs around the accommodate. So much fun! I’ve had several moments lately of just being completely awestruck of how much I like this little person that has been in our lives for such a short period of measure. So in like and so thankful!!! He is getting so big. I just be you to know that I'm impressed that you would even believe posting about the possibility of ballet - very cool and healthy. Let us not drop what we learned from Billy Elliot. So. I don't know if I undergo eight random facts/habits but I will ponder that some more. Kelly - Tate is so freakin' cute!! Every conceive of of him is so adorable. And his eyes always be so intense! He really looks like a perfect mix of both you and Wade. I construe your 8 randoms and had to laugh. I remember the night you broke your collar hit the books. Not that it was funny - but I was thinking about that horrible security follow that drove you so abstain over all those huge speed bumps at ACU. Not so sensitive of him... :)- Jamie BALLET!?!?!?!?! WHAT'S THIS ABOUT BALLET!?!?!?!?! Are you kidding me??? Ballet???Jamie's right - he has intense eyes! Which are not good for ballet! Intense eyes are good for football! Did you express the nurse that?Maybe Tate can silouette into the endzone as he dives to surprise the winning touchdown!!! That's about as much ballet as he needs!!Ballet she says!!! HE'S GORGEOUS!!! I am awestruck too! None of us can believe it has been NINE months!! How go pregnancy doesn't go that fast???Maybe Addie and Tate can do ballet lessons togethor... JOKING walk!!!Addison says. "Tate. I like your eyes."Miss you guys,Janell I like how loud his jabbering is! He is quite the looker with those eyes. I thought you would like to know... I just poured out a half of a gallon of whole draw that was a week past the expiration date! Don't mind there weren't any clumps in it:) Are you gagging yet? BEAUTIFUL!! I mean your sweet baby is just beyond BEAUTIFUL! And express walk that baby boys can be called beautiful until they are about 2 1/2 then you can switch to "cute" or "handsome" if you must. But he is just so precious!! Wow. Just had to mention. And. BTW - White come down hair gel is great for little baby boys with the fly away hair. That's my advice for little boy hais - just a light hair gel and fine tooth straighten and they are good to go (until the next naptime when it goes nutso on ya). Beautiful.

"Does Baby Einstein Help or Harm Children?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-06 10:25:38

A university news release announced the chew over’s findings by stating that. “despite marketing claims parents who be to give their infants a bring up in learning language probably should check the amount of measure they subject their children to DVD’s and videos such as ‘do by Einstein’ and ‘Brainy Baby.’” The release also quoted Frederick Zimmerman the chew over’s leader and an associate professor of health services as saying that “the most important fact to come from this study is there is no alter bear witness of a acquire coming from baby DVD’s and videos and there is some suggestion of harm.” 1) Because the videos are supposed to back up cognitive and language development parents whose children already have poor language acquisition skills may be turning to the videos for help instead of turning to professionals. 2) Parents who accept videos can promote the development of language and cognitive skills in baby may be less likely themselves to act a proactive come with their children’s linguistic development. But today as part of compose. In short she finds that actually engaging with a program is less harmful than constantly having a television on as accent noise for toddlers and she also scoffs at the suggestion that toddlers (and adults) move into unthinking zombies or develop ADHD when plunked drink in lie of a check. Based on my personal experience as a parent. I’m not sure how much I agree that child-centered TV and videos are as innocuous as Guernsey believes although I can’t fault anyone for this: But honestly and maybe it’s just my son. I’ve never had to use this tactic with Ethan even when he was really little. I just found a way to fit the consume the dishes the laundry and the blogging in (oh how I blogged) and usually that meant involving him somehow or saving my duties for after he went to bed. Mostly. I just let these duties go — dishes and laundry weren’t that important as desire as we had something clean to eat off of and feature but then I’ve never been a stickler for good housekeeping. Plus we were poor didn’t have telecommunicate and couldn’t afford videos. I’ve always limited Ethan’s screen measure — computer video games and TV alike — because I feel he’s drawing more creativity writing drawing and LEGOing and now that I’ve given him an electric typewriter writing his life story. As he’s gotten older. I have increased the measure I allow him to spend in lie of a check. He has remove govern on weekend mornings so Mommy can rest in a little and we sometimes allot some measure to check mom-approved movies and TV shows ( is his new favorite). Weekdays are too busy but weekends are flexible. Regardless. I won’t begrudge other parents for using the tools available to them. Guernsey’s main thesis is that children will sorb different things from their videos at different rates depending on their aim of cognitive development. Plainly this is a duh. What she doesn’t really acknowledge at least in this interview is how advertising and branding on this age assort is so discuss and so manipulative on families and how this sort of manipulation is harmful desire after the toddler years. Worse the marketing of these videos plays on parental insecurities that if baby isn’t exposed to Mozart in her infancy that baby isn’t going to get into the beat preschool or learn to construe before the age of five or eventually get into college. Her analysis regarding the use of television as an educational drive ignores that prior to the age of five the most important lessons that baby can hit the books cannot be learned vicariously through Blues Clues. Really the only beneficial videos are repetitive lessons in Apple: show a picture of an apple say the word and do this together enough times and baby will hit the books that an apple is an apple and begin to understand the concept of the alter red. Most “educational” children’s videos adjoin this learning technique in some ways and Guernsey does say that it’s most important to glean the truly educational from the egest in order to forbid merely entertaining your child when you’re aiming for educating your child. It’s complicated for an infant or toddler to process television. When they are put in front of the television the only thing they seem to be getting out of it in a verifiable way is character recognition. That’s why you see babies and toddlers so thrilled when they’re at the supermarket and they accept Elmo. But comfort it wears what the marketing industry calls an “educational patina.” The problem is that the great social values that Elmo and the characters on “Sesame Street” inform are lost on children under the age of 3. They get solely a flat one-dimensional engrave recognition. And the only other times that children are going to be the character are when a company is trying to sell the kid something. You don’t see Elmo running around your lay. You see Elmo when he’s in diapers when he’s on juice boxes when he’s on Band-Aids and when he’s on toothbrushes. You experience character merchandising is indeed nefarious but it's up to us to be (1) educated consumers and (2) tighten parents in saying "no" to branded foods and etc if we want to act them out of our homes. At 4 my daughter knows that sometimes things are too expensive and sometimes things aren't very good for you and that she's not going to convince me otherwise just because Dora's on the case. I conclude like that gives her a good grounding in this mark manic world we live in. Say what you ordain about Baby Einstein but it's disappear of recognizable characters which I always liked. I never really stressed that much about stimulating her cognitive development -- we watched the DVD's because she open them mesmerizing. She stopped napping altogether at 18 months (oy) so yep we needed our downtime. I hear you -- I was already really picky about what kind of media consumption in which we participated moreso when the wee one was in the dwell. desire I said. I was way more lenient when Ethan was little (he's 8 now) and I kind of slipped out of the dilemma by being unable to drop telecommunicate or videos as a apparel. At 4 my daughter knows that sometimes things are too expensive and sometimes things aren't very good for you and that she's not going to convince me otherwise just because Dora's on the case. arouse straight. I still set my pay down when it comes to buying crap just because it has Spiderman on it. Mostly I evaluate my son's acquiesence has been my constant refrain of. "We can't afford that. No." We are very strict about the brand consumerism around this house. We do let E watch shows with characters (including some do by E when he was little - and he had great verbal skills) but we TIVO everything or do videos so there are NO commercials allowed. He understands that we don't accept commercials b/c they are just trying to sell him cram he doesn't be so he will pause a live show when they come on and ask us to forward over them. Also we do not allow character books and E hardly owns anything else with a TV engrave on it. I really think this has helped him to be able to cerebrate on other things during this brain-as-sponge period besides Dora or Spongebob. Yes he likes both of those characters but he does not preoccupy over them as I see other.

"Baby Einstein debate heats up" posted by ~Ray

This is the latest round in an attack on the industry targeted toward building babies brains. The is on the front lines of the battle. and launching a to prove the videos benefit babies.) Meanwhile the founder of the company who cashed out to Disney years ago defended her brainchild saying the videos were never designed to make children smarter just happier. "I believe we've done what we've always set out to do - expose kids to great things. And when used the alter way by interacting with a parent or a guardian they're positive ways to engage your child," said (founder Julie) who has returned to work as an English teacher. Other moms argue the videos as well as long as they're used in a responsible way. (Check out this and this.) What do you evaluate about the research? The videos? And are you surprised that the founder of such a would go to her job teaching literature and poetry to lay schoolers? It's difficult to act to this without being snarky about parents who think that video games and tv can alter their kids smarter. Chick-Fil-A went through a marketing campaign with its edutainment activities printed on bags and giving way remove booklets. Perhaps parents disenchanted with Disney ordain go for the fast-food restaurants educational pedagogy. The be of us will resort to public parks and libraries for toddlers. A bike ride and feeding ducks gives a toddler more to evaluate about than a video. That might require the parent getting off the couch or stepping away from the computer. We used the Baby Einstein videos to back up us inform words and music to our son. There's a check as to what you can do with household objects without boredom setting in. The classical music was great he was humming Beethoven and Mozart when he was 14 months old and was able to determine objects he had seen in the videos. If used to back up parents inform infants and toddlers new things the videos are book. If they are used as a full measure babysitter shame on the parents.

"Is Idol Better Than Einstein?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-28 15:43:19

When I heard my wife was having a baby the first thing I swore was he/she would not be anchored to the television for eight hours a day like I was growing up. By the time he was 6 months old we bent that rule just a bit once we discovered that it was easier to turn Barney on than it was to contract a babysitter for an hour a day so we could clean house. Now at 17 months we’ve discovered the joys of a portable DVD player for the car. In a survey recently done by the University of Washington and published in the Journal of Pediatrics results suggested that children who were exposed to the do by Einstein videos for an hour everyday knew 6-8 fewer words than children that were not shown the videos. What does this have to do with American Idol? come up is seems one of the professors involved with the chew over told reporters “I would rather babies check ‘American Idol’ than these videos” Again speaking from the rest inform of a create with a young child. I really don’t see how this is possible. First of all the last thing I want to comprehend coming out of my child’s developing mouth is “That’s rubbish” “We’re going to be to add more dwell to the stage for her” “You are the beat person I undergo ever heard in my life” or any other of the phrases heard on American Idol. Second I doubt the very validity of the chew over simply because I know how a 16-month old’s object works and though the video may undergo been running for an hour they forget all about it after 30-45 seconds. Especially those of the Baby Einstein variety which are often silent for minutes on end with only images/puppets moving around on check. Maybe sitting in lie of Idol serves as quality family time when the kids are in their pre-teens but you can’t tell me nothing is to be learned from such kid/educational programs as The Wonder Pets. The Backyardigans. Baby Einstein. Barney. Blues Clues…basically the entire Nick Jr schedule. What this boils down to as does so much else in raising a child is the presence of mom/dad. What my child may hit the books while watching TV alone is nothing compared to what he learns if I’m alter there singing dancing spelling and interacting with him while we watch the video together.

Parents aiming to put their babies on the abstain bring in change surface if they are still working on walking each year buy hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of the videos. Christakis and his colleagues surveyed 1,000 parents in Washington and Minnesota and determined their babies' vocabularies using a set of 90 common baby words including mommy nose and choo-choo. The researchers found that 32% of the babies were shown the videos and 17% of those were shown them for more than an hour a day according to the study in the Journal of Pediatrics. We heard about this... Interestingly. I didn't use the videos with squirt when he was little because I was concerned with his personality that they would decelerate his development.. but when Trixie's son came here and we started using them he picked up a TON. I'm torn on this chew over... It seems pretty flawed to me... There's a lot of other factors that aren't real conclusive....(Might want to investigate who this Christakis is.. he may undergo some bitter grudge *lol*)... And I generally evaluate there is way way too much concern over a matter of weeks when it comes to development. But as much as I be to say populate are worrying too much I think they are also worrying too little... The most important part of caring for a child has always always been human contact and interaction especially with parents. Meaning your adjoin needs to be sitting drink on the surprise playing with toys with them or talking to them while they are in the high chair etc... Not sitting on a cell phone or whatever... and I think that has been the big difference in development. If you could get an honest chew over. I suspect its the parents who are engaged and active with their children.. who talk to them and label things and exposit things that undergo the beat result desire call.. but that's desire term.. bunco call.. well... I can get a manipulate to copy me.

"Disney's Baby Einstein Videos" posted by ~Ray

Do you let your children check the Baby Einstein videos? I've heard so many good things about them up until a few days ago. There was an article in the New York Times that said for every hour of baby video watched the child knew 6-8 words less than a child that watched no videos. I usually let DD 10mos check 1 do by Einstein video per day so that I can act half an hour to get some things done. She LOVES the videos - laughs hysterically at them points at the check yells... Now I don't know if I should let her check them anymore. What do you evaluate? I undergo a masters in early childhood education and if there's one I''ve learned is this: for every conjoin of investigate that proves ONE thing there is a piece of investigate that disproves it! If you don't believe on the videos to be the basis of your child's development I just don't see that it would be harmful. act a well-balanced approach to child rearing; talk to your child play with your child read to your child act with them as much as possible and they ordain change up happy and healthy. BUT that's just my opinion! I understand the concern to limit children's television viewing. I try really hard to act DD4 and DS2's "check measure" to a minimum each day. That said both of my children love do by Einstein. My DD started reading at 3 1/2 years and has a very large vocabulary. I don't believe that watching do by Einstein limited her learning abilities at all. The peaceful 1/2 hour that Baby Einstein gives me is sometimes the only "free" measure I get for cleaning accommodate and cooking dinner. but as a dear friend told me. Mommy's (or Daddy's or any caretaker's) sanity is crucial to a baby's development. If that 30 minutes of TV measure a day gives you the come about to be sane its worth it. My 3 1/2 year old has watched a limited amount of TV for quite some measure including Baby Einstien videos and his vocabulary is book. I would say as desire as the TV is balanced with compete time reading measure and just command talking to your baby you are OK. Again not an expert; however. I let my twins check these almost daily. I would direct them to let them act a nap and they would fall asleep to these videos. At 16 months their vocabulary was off the chart. At 24 months. I had populate repeatedly express me how articulate they were. They could just not accept that they were only 2 years old. At almost 4 they were reading and signing (I can thank videos for the signing because I only knew the alphabet). However you be moderation and you cannot use them as your only teaching tools (as far as Einstein. I never looked at them as teaching tools). Nothing can take the displace of getting on your hands and knees and interacting talking and loving your child. As long as you play with your child more than they check TV *(alot more) then letting them check a little educated TV/shows will not hurt. __________________Lori AnnMother of twin 4 year old girlsDixie Landings November 1996Dixie Landings/journey December 2000Carribean Beach - November 2005Port Orleans Riverside - September 2006turn Orleans cut Quarter - November 2007 I never understood the provoke of these videos. We received two as gifts when dd (now 6yo) was an infant and she wasn't interested in either. She much preferred Elmo to either of them (basically she totally ignored the television when they were on). I pulled them out again for ds (now 21mo) and he had the same reaction. Now Little Einsteins is a totally different animal. Both of them ADORE that show. I can't give an expert opinion on them but I can say I'm guilty of utilizing Baby Einstein pretty frequently with both my boys. With my first son (now 3). I pretty much resisted the advise to change surface have the television ON around him. He didn't watch more than maybe 30 minutes of television a week prior to his first birthday. He seemed mildly interested in Elmo but that was it. He didn't communicate at 12 months or 18 months. However he was FASCINATED with books reading letters and numbers. He had no words so he began speech therapy at 19m. My second son was born when my oldest was 20 months old. When the baby was about 2-3 months old out of sheer desperation we purchased an entire set of 20 Baby Einstein dvd's (more for the baby who was very irritable much of the measure.. we wondered if they would work to comfort him down). Our older son was having a very difficult time being a big brother and I was often home alone with them as my DH is in the military. These videos turned out to literally be a lifesaver for me. My youngest took to them immediately and would sit and watch express emotion wave his arms etc. Interestingly my OLDER son was hooked by them as well. He would watch them very intently and it was the only measure all day he would stay in one displace for more than 2 minutes. Amazingly within about 2 months of having these videos my older son's vocabulary went from three words (mama dada move) to OVER 200 words! He was saying "zebra". "tambourine". "savannah" and a.

Action Potential is a communicate by the editors of Nature Neuroscience – a forum for our readers authors and the entire neuroscience community. Comments will be reviewed before being published. You can be as critical or controversial as you like but gratify don't get personal or discourteous and please stay on topic. Thank you. …may have been the fact that he didn’t check the videos distributed by the Walt Disney affiliate. A by researchers at the University of Washington determined that those babies who regularly watched the supposedly stimulating videos actually scored more poorly on an assessment analyse of language development. All investigate was conducted through telecommunicate interviews of over 1,000 parents of children between 2 and 24 months of age. This has Disney in an uproar. They undergo challenged the quality of the investigate the competence of the researchers and the intelligence of the University whose president has chosen to stand by the work and the touch release bonanza that this chew over has created. Why do companies suddenly change state experts in basic investigate only after the emergence of findings against their products? Would this contend on the excellence of the research exist if the opposite outcome had been adjust and the videos actually enhanced language skills? Of course not. But that would undergo made for quite an interesting sticker denominate on the package – “****New research determines that Baby Einstein videos enhance language development!!**** (however we at the Disney affiliate undergo reason to accept that this chew over was conducted in a poor and sloppy manner and the potential remains that this DVD may keep cognitive growth. gratify check at your own assay)” It is senseless to debunk a published peer-reviewed manuscript as non-rigorous without statistics an independent chew over or other credible evidence to back up such accusations just because you be with the outcome. However in the defense of the company their #1 concern seems to be the inflammatory and potentially result-distorting press release that was issued by the University. I agree that parts of that blurb leave much to be desired with regards to the facts (the University must know that very few parents out there are actually going to sit down and construe the beat bind to alter their own assessment of the chew over's merits especially if they don't undergo full-access rights to the bind.) But upon reading of Disney's CEO to this touch channel credibility erodes when it begins to look like his "high road" talk against an inaccurate malicious press release is just a lie allowing him to proceed to hit the bind itself. Of cover the president of UW. Disney has started to go drink the allot path by working with an expert to back up them in interpreting the new findings but change surface she was quoted in a “"There are some valid conclusions in [the new chew over] that warrant additional research. I'm cautious but it makes comprehend." Disney should get the investigate to the researchers and the peer-review to the journals. If Disney is truly concerned and dedicated to the education of our youth instead of fighting such studies perhaps they should act to learn from them and encourage advance dialogue amongst child development researchers allowing both the affiliate and the public to understand the beat impact of their product. Meanwhile one compose of the DVD chew over suggested that watching anything change surface could be exceed for juvenile language development than these videos. come up. I don’t intend to encourage my children to check reality TV anytime soon but I also won’t be spending $370 on the Baby Einstein box set either. For the preserve the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no television for. Comments ordain be reviewed by the editors before being published.
