One of the biggest complaints I’ve read from formula-feeding mums on Irish parenting forums is that they have very little access to information about the different formulas available short of going to the supermarket and reading the packs. As you know in the EU advertising of infant formula is not permitted. Many mothers end up choosing the formula that was given to them in the hospital so I imagine that there is probably fierce competition among the companies to supply the maternity hospitals! In any case. I frequently read that mothers are frustrated by the ban on advertising saying that all the information should be available to them that they are intelligent enough to make up their own minds. But it’s not about the consumer’s intelligence these laws exist to rein in the blatant lies and overwhelming misinformation that formula companies use to coerce parents into choosing their brand. Have a look at Baby Milk Action’s of which formula is “best” On the basis of the information so far we have learned that Milupa claims to be the closest to breastmilk so does Cow & Gate and so does Farley’s… perhaps SMA is the closest to breastmilk? So which is the best infant formula? If you try to decide on the basis of what companies tell you then you get nowhere. They are commercial organisations and aim to convince that their formula is the best. But the claims we see on formula packaging here are really only the tip of the iceberg. Remember companies are very restricted in the claims they can make and the imagery they can use (although they are constantly the weakly-enforced regulations). Their claims are shocking here’s a few! * Enriched with the breast milk lipids DHA and ARA which have been demonstrated in clinical studies to improve infant mental and visual development.* Contains lactose a carbohydrate that occurs naturally in breast milk.* Provides nutrients found naturally in mother’s milk that help develop the immune system. Now that’s impressive especially the line “The longer they use Enfamil the better their visual improvement”. Read Baby Milk Action’s on the studies used to “support” these claims and the companies involved in their funding! What a load so you can see why we can’t rely on these companies to give us straightforward information. You all know I’m very pro-breastfeeding and I think big businesses can’t be trusted one little bit so I wholeheartedly agree on the ban on infant formula advertising. S.) so it was so disturbing to read these claims. It was also very helpful though in explaining why the rate of women who say that formula is just as good as breastmilk has *doubled* here in the last ten years. People tell me that mothers sometimes ask for “the formula with breastmilk in it,” and now I understand why. Amazing how they’re ALL closest to breastmilk… It’s a shame they can’t get together pool research honestly and make the very best substitute there is for women who can’t or don’t want to breastfeed (and with better information and support for breastfeeding there’d be less need for infant formula imo). Some babies don't or can't get breastmilk for various reasons but regular formula is too harsh on their sensitive belly. Pain gas fussiness and spitting up are common for these little sweethearts. I have been frantically looking for a glucose or sugar free baby formula and undergo not found any. I wonder if there is one out there? I keep reading about keeping sugar away from babies as it may damage their teeth later in life but why put sugar or derivatives in baby formula? I breastfeed at the moment but wanted to have a backup just in case I couldn't be home in measure from work. Any suggestions? All milks and formula include carbohydrates in the form of sugars which provides a good source of energy for your baby. go a good dental health routine from the start - gently brushing your baby's teeth as soon as a tooth appears to prevent tooth decay. We had been giving Jordan a little cows milk on his weet bix and he was fine with it but then whenever he asked for a bottle instead of nursing I would make up 180 ml of formula and put in 30 ml of cows milk. He was having soft smelly poo's for a while but I assumed it was from teething as he was getting a tooth. When it clicked it might be the milk I stopped it and his poos went back to normal. After 4 days of normal poo's I gave him some cows milk on his weetbix to try it out. 1/2 hour later he had a soft poo so I haven't given him any more. As we are weening from the breast slowly. I asked wether I should avoid cows milk and try goats milk or soy milk now instead of formula. She said no it really was beat to just keep him on baby formula and maybe try the cows milk again in 2 or 3 months. She said I could try the toddler formulas but that baby formula is perfectly fine for him to have after 12 months. Is this right? Is it better to give baby formula to a one year old over soy draw?She also said I need to cut down his milk because he is drinking too much and not eating enough food. Somedays he refuses all food so I'm not sure how I would cut down his milk. She said if I cut back his draw he will realise he needs to eat solids. She said at one he should be having no more than 2 bottles but he has anywhere from 3-5 bottles of 180 ml in a 24 hour period plus breastmilk whenever he asks for it. Would you be cutting back on milk to back up your 1 year old to eat more solids? If yes were they ok with this or was it a struggle? Is this right? Is it better to give baby formula to a one year old over soy milk?If those are your choices.. soy milk doesn't have much in the way of nutrients and has very little fat and protein which a rapidly growing kidlet needs badly. We gave C goats milk either fresh or if we couldn't get that powdered and reconstituted or if canned mixed half and half with rice milk. Once he'd seen an allergist and been cleared for cows milk then we swapped to that. Because there is a medication I have needed that I havent been able to take while breastfeeding so i have put it off for as long as I can so that Jord could have draw for a year. Also he much prefers a cup thesedays and rarely askes to care for but I assumed I would be putting cows milk in it not formula. gah i just construe this article its pretty heavy both my girls used soy when not my boobs and i really have not seen a reaction at all similar to what these reports say. We dont overdo.

Two Philadelphia men allegedly stole $1,700 worth of baby formula and diapers from a Northampton grocery over the last two weeks. Brian Richard Herbert Jr.. 34 and George Spencer Dickson. 35 were arrested in Upper Southampton Friday afternoon following a brief chase on pay following a theft at a Richboro store about 12:30 p m. According to court records guard believe Herbert and Dickson are the two men captured on store surveillance walking into the Super Fresh at 12:37 p m. Oct. 23.
