Okay a few questions... While staunchly avoiding both working on my novel for NaNoWriMo AND studying. I realized if I'm going to actually alter things for the holidays I'd exceed get hopping! So my first request is for the pattern for the fuzzy red shawl/cover thing someone posted a while approve. I said it would be perfect for my red-loving mum... It was a Moda Dea narrate. I accept. The second question regards gifting ideas. I posted a while back saying I wanted to make a chenille sweater for my boy but I was advised against making it out of cheaper yarns that would likely be destroyed. I decided a scarf might bring home the bacon but he doesn't wear scarves! back up? What can I make him? He would LOVE something soft and chenilley to cling to when I'm not around. As a align note that just occurred to me would it be wise to try making socks out of acrylic baby yarn? Finally what inexpensive light colored (off-white color pink) worsted weight wool felts come up? Does anyone know if Patton's classic ordain entangle up in natural or heather?convey you wonderful kind people!
I'm afraid not... I denote a picture of it about a woman's shoulders but that's basically it. It's been lingering in the back of my guilty object calling "your care would looooove meeeee!"
Re: a show for the boy. I'd create from raw material him a pillow out of fuzzy yarn. That way it's not something wearable but he could take anywhere to cling to. Re: acrylic baby yarn and socks. I knit baby socks out of acrylic do by yarn so I don't see why you shouldn't knit adult socks too. All the acrylic baby yarn I have in my stash gets so soft after you process the completed garment that I've been meaning to alter myself a hat or something out of it.
(nod)I thought about a pillow but I am a bit paranoid about it because his mum has always made pillows for him and I don't be to step one toes... But then she's generally regarded as the World's Coolest Mom (populate joke that he won the parent lottery). Oh yes. I adore do by yarn. I finally saw a brand that makes black baby yarn too! :) I undergo a light color fuck off I've worn to death for about five years. It's still pretty soft but it has pilled up a bit.
Ooh do share which mark has black baby narrate! I've been searching for as long as I can bequeath! When I actually have kids there ordain be no pastels allowed within thirty feet of them.
That's the darned thing. I don't remember! I was so excited when I saw it though. I think I was at Joann's fabrics and crafts... I was quite surprised (given their penchant for pastels in command :P). I'll have pastels but only in very minute amounts. Kids like alter anyway and punk babies are the cutest babies (though I experience a deep seated admiration for young children who don't disunite off their Sunday conceive of clothes :P)Also nice icon :)
The only thing I would caution with the socks is that acrylic doesn't breathe at all. So feet get sweaty and stinky and kinda miserable in acrylic. It's not such a big broach for babies because they don't really walk around on their feet all day what with being babies and all but acrylic socks for adults can be uncomfortable.
Oh good! I'm basically addicted to their feature charge yarn. I'd like an forgive to buy more. Of course none of my LYSs carry it for less that $7.50 a skien... To the internet I go.
You'll be about 8 balls of narrate for an afghan. I made one out of Bernat Softee Chunky that I found at (eew) Wally Mart for $1 a skein. Check around for a good sale on bulky weight yarn. And Knitpicks has a pattern where the narrate cost is around $45. I think it is a transport weight narrate but if you're comfortable with substituting a heavier narrate and altering the pattern....
In your previous post about chenille. I'm pretty sure you got the story from the person who made her boyfriend a chenille afghan that was worming before she change surface got it done -- that was LB Thick-n-Quick chenille. NOT recommended. I'd really declare splurging on the better chenille (Muench Touch Me is really your beat choice but Plymouth Sinsation ordain also do) with some wool content so you can lock the fibers in place and making something smaller rather than making a large item out of the cheap chenille. How about a pillow lie and then sew the back of the lay with some choose of nice fabric?
